Call Me "Crash"

I'm not sure how or why, except that I wasn't payng adequate attention to the road in front of me, but I managed to hit a stopped city bus today. Hard enough to possibly total out my beautiful black car.

Hard enough that the air bags were set off.

I got smacked good in the nose, but I don't think hard enough to bruise. I'll have a goodly welt on my left forearm, though. Had my arm draped over the wheel, ya know.

The bumper of my car went under the bumper of the bus. The hood of my car just kinda curled under. Grill and headlights are gone. Radiator pushed back. There was coolant and oil on the ground under my car. I think things got pretty well fooked.

And yeah, I was cited. Sort of a blanket moving violation, a civic spank if you will.

The insurance company was lovely to deal with today. We'll see what happens tomorrow once the estimate arrives for my car.

I picked up a rental car for the short term. The only thing the company had left was a bad ass silver Jeep Cherokee. I'll have fun. It's not very fast, not in the 0-60 way, but it feels slower than my car. I twisted it out tonight and was cruising along at 80 without even realizing it.

The one thing I will say in favor of it is that it was awfully easy for someone 6'2" like me to get in and out.

Blah, blah, blah.

So yeah, I hit a *stopped* bus.

It was stopped, and I drove right into it.

I had to laugh when I read this... :)

In my 11 years of driving I have successfully managed to hit 3 (yes, three) *school* buses... oh yea, the big yellow ones... nothing serious enough to total out a car, just crumpled bumpers, a shattered mirror, and some dents...

It's nice to know I'm not alone in ramming into very large, very obvious obstructions... lol.

*lol* Love the new nick name ~ but I have to say, I too have hit more stationary objects than moving ones. *shrugs* maybe the moving objects know to move out of my way?

Glad your ok!

My car is a total loss. I'm shopping for a new (to me) car. I got "fair market value" for my old car which wasn't all that much.

SO I can't buy that bad-assed Caddy that I want. Oh well. Maybe next car.
