Raising Cash
Don't mean to go on so long with the radio silence. I've just been having angst about money and haven't been feeling too sexy, frankly.
My deposit and first month's rent have been paid on a new place. It's a nice little duplex with a couple of bedrooms and a full unfinished basement. Utilities are switched over, too.
The rub is… I thought that I had paid my last month's rent on my current apartment when I moved in. Alas and alack, I was dead wrong. So poor planning and a bunch of overdraught fees have left me with a negative account balance and a management company threatening legal action for "unlawful non-payment of rent."
This is why I'm leaving. Every notice from them has bold print and underlined text. If not that, then the threat of legal action. Like that's supposed to make money materialize out of nowhere. I hate them. But I also agreed to pay them rent. So I'm just a little anxious right now.
Anyone got any ideas?
Me love you long time!

been there ~ I found that if you just pay 'em 5 bucks they won't take you to court...but if your like me, 5 bucks will break you!
I've been there too... fortunately I was able to take a short term loan from family to get over the hump... I hope things work out for you hun... I've got my fingers crossed for ya.
And Serenity may have an idea... I don't what the laws are like in your area, but if you make an attempt to pay and a promise to pay the remaining balance, I don't think they really could take you to court since you are making an effort and not just screwing them over.
I just talked with the leasing office and they will not file if I bring the amount due to less than $300.
Now just to see who I can borrow money from.
I feel so humiliated.
I am so sorry that you are having troubles hun. I know how it is though. Don't be humiliated. It happens to everyone at some point or another. If I had $300, I'd send it to you. For know though, hopefully cyber-blown kisses will make you feel better, even if you can't spend them. ;D
xoxoxoxox
Don't feel humilated, crap happens to the best of us...some of us have felt your pain (hence how I knew to offer them a small portion!)
It will get better ~
Pnthr and Ser are right, don't feel humiliated. Shit happens and that's that. Glad to hear that they are willing to work with you though.
Well, they're still filing tomorrow if I don't get money to them before 10:30 am. I don't have the ability to pay anything just yet.
I spoke to one of my best friends who gave me some ideas of things I can try, so I feel a little more in control of the situation and less panicked.
Going to try to speak with a loan officer at my bank in the morning.
