Micah

I was interested to learn that Laurell K. Hamilton will be releasing a mass-market paperback called Micah this coming week. This is not to be confused with another book coming out in June, which will be the next hard cover installment in the Anita Blake series.

Since it's a paperback, I'm sure I'll grab it as soon as it comes out.

What I'm interested in is that it will theoretically add to Micah's back story—we don't know much about him yet.

Will any of you be reading, too?

Absolutely, although the recent turn in her writing towards smut instead of actual plot is disturbing. I always found Micah to be a fascinating character though (besides all the billions of descriptions of his extremely large member that she kept beating us over the head with - no pun intended, of course), so I'll be interested to read. And paperback, so cheap and easy. :)

Well, I will be honest: The smut in the Merry Gentry series is why I was interested in LKH at all. I found Anita's chastity in the beginning of the Anita Blake series to be tedious.

On the other hand, holy fuck is Anita hardcore now!

Even though I don't think Laurell *gets* BDSM and fetish except from the shocked vanilla point of view, I still enjoy the continual titillation in reading her.

And, yeah, I actually like Micah as a character, too. I hope I like the book.

I agree that she doesn't "get" BDSM at all. I think that the series has too much drama already without introducing that sort of relationship into it. We'd all get up in arms about it anyway. ;)

And yeah, she sure is hardcore! Threesomes and foursomes and more, oh my! Don't get me wrong, I enjoy reading that. I have books that revolve entirely around that aspect of life; it's just going from one extreme to another that has me a little confused with what she's trying to do. I mean really, how much worse could it possible get?

Are the Merry Gentry books good? Would you recommend I pick them up?

Actually I would recommend the Merry Gentry series. They are different enough from the Anita series to really hold their own.

I personally dig the references to the old world dieties and the magic employed.

Plus, the sex is good.

So yeah. ;) They read fast, and they're fun.

I just finished it, I found it last week....it was pretty good filler ~ but I can't wait until summer!!!

I'll pick them up, Soulless. Thank you. :)

Aine, if you like the Anita series, you will enjoy the Merry series ~ honest!

Thanks Serenity. :) I'm actually going to pick the first one up today... and keep the book recommendations coming. I'm all about keeping the nerd factor in my sexuality. LOL.

WOW, seems I've been missing out on this one. Have to go find a few and read a while under the covers. ;D

The Anita Series is the only series I've read from start to finish more than 4 times. I love the transition from slightly frigid-too many issues-prickly to the touch Anita to the now.. "hardcore"-too many issues-prickly to the touch Anita... though I didn't find Micah to be very interesting, I'm a total Nathaniel fan... is there anyone else out there who thinks Richard needs a silver bullet to the balls?

I just finished Micah and am trying to get into A Kiss of Shadows, though I'm finding it hard to. I'm so familiar with the Anita characters that it's more of a chore than I thought it would be.

Micah seems dull to me too, the book wasn't all that interesting and I felt like I read it in about 45 minutes (despite the rather engaging sex scene LOL). I like Nathanial a lot too, but I like the Jean Claude/Asher/Anita thing the best. :)

We need to form a bondage reading group LOL.

I am always up for a new book. Especially a good old sex and bondage one. I have read and re-read the sleeping beauty series by ann rice so many times that the pages are falling out! LOL Pass on the info folks, a new breed of reading group has emerged!

Pnthr, start at Guilty Pleasures by Laurel Hamilton. You can better appreciate her decent into the hardcore slut she is now that way. Work into it. ;)

And Soulless, come on now. We need more smut from you, pronto. Your most commented upon entry is about a book. Let's have some fuck talk soon, my dear! We're all dying to hear it.

Soulless said:

You only love me for my smut?

Aine said:

Well no, darling. Of course not. That's merely what brought me here in the first place. You write deliciously. I'm enjoying the book talk, but I'd just like a little more flavor. ;)

Thanks for the tip! I'll go out and get it this weekend! WOOHOO!

And Soulless baby, I have to agree with Aine here, we need some more fantasy and smut to keep us going. Preferrably with some lovely Dom/sub action. I'm waiting patiently with my hair in pigtails just for you. ;D~
