Every Winter, come mid-February, after we've weathered a few wicked cold snaps, we begin to wonder why on God's green Earth would anyone choose to live here?
The beautiful, crystalline, sunlit days and brilliant, moonlit nights are also always the coldest.
The cloudy and gray days are some of the most comfortable, especially for Winter play.
Tonight, as I write this, after the full Snow Moon has been eclipsed and emerged brilliant and victorious, it is 6 degrees below zero. And falling.
Gorgeous night.
My infinity is only getting brighter, more vast, and more fertile with life and possibility.
It seems that it is hip to be against holidays anymore.
But I am not.
Sure, plenty in my life could make me crass and bitter, but I resist.
So I have celebrated with my love, and I will continue to celebrate today. And I will continue to celebrate in my way.
I try to enjoy every day, but I also take advantage of the opportunities I am given: for love, for joy, for sensuality.
Say what you will about romantics and fools. I do not regret taking a day off from work, having a beautiful bouquet of tulips, lilies and mums in my living room, or spending time with the woman I love.
Do you guys get the commercials about the cable company parental-control tools? Where the concerned parents say they enjoy the "compelling" TV but that they can't let their kids see it so they're going to block the characters?
The one I'm talking about (Mistress Mandy Gets Blocked) features a fictional dominatrix named Mistress Mandy. She is dressed in a lovely black vinyl catsuit and stiletto boots. She's holding a whip.
What I dislike a lot is the moment when she angrily shouts "Mistress Mandy wants to punish you!"
Nope. Off by a mile. In a scene, it is always all about what the Domme or top wants anyway. This is implicit and would never need to be stated. Next, I don't think she would betray anger or even that her subject wielded sufficient leverage to affect her emotionally. So the writers got this really wrong, or, more likely, the suits didn't (wouldn't?) get it.
I think she she would have calmly stated they would be punished. Or, she would simply and suddenly strike with the whip, because it pleased her. Then she would laugh at the pain.
It is cute at the end of the commercial when the wife comments that she thinks Mistress Mandy's boots are lovely.
