All Your Vampires Are Belong to Us
Well, what the hell do you know?
An article at Newsday suggests that some of the lore that led to Bram Stoker's Dracula was actually a result of the spread of tuberculosis in the USA in the 18th and 19th centuries, before germ theory and knowledge of infection vectors:
Historians say vampire folklore is rooted in New England
Don't tell me you kids don't read about vampires. I know you do. Ceiling cat saw you.

Micah
I was interested to learn that Laurell K. Hamilton will be releasing a mass-market paperback called Micah this coming week. This is not to be confused with another book coming out in June, which will be the next hard cover installment in the Anita Blake series.
Since it's a paperback, I'm sure I'll grab it as soon as it comes out.
What I'm interested in is that it will theoretically add to Micah's back story—we don't know much about him yet.
Will any of you be reading, too?

Defining Myself Backwards
I started reading Controlling People last night.
I want to learn how to break away from my desire to please my parents.
In the process, I'm learning that my inability to make my own decisions about my life comes from my having learned to define myself via the perceptions of others. So I don't know what I want because I only pay attention to input from others... and subsequently I ignore my own emotions, intuition, and experience.
Great.
Oh yeah... I'm seeing that I'm perpetuating some of the same abusive crap in my personal life.
No.
This will not continue.
I need to finish this one.

Enough With the Whining
Apparently I was feeling sorry for myself last night.
That's OK. I mean, I'm entitled every now and then, but I know it's not necessarily that amusing to read.
For not getting much sleep, I feel remarkably bright-eyed and bushy-tailed.
But I prefer your bush and tail.
;)
Good morning!

Lissette Ashton
Has anyone read her work?
She has a Blood Lust Chronicles series in the Erotica section where I work. Mixes vampirism with the erotica and fetish stuff, I would guess.
I'm guessing the books would be entertaining... should I invest?

Random Book Update
I finished Cerulean Sins yesterday, much to my chagrin. I thoroughly enjoyed it until I got to the end where everything gets wrapped up so neatly. I was like "What do you mean that's the end?" I hate finishing books for that reason. Once I get into that universe, I hate for it to end.
Random memory: I suppose that's sorta like how I used to cry when my friends went home when I was a little boy. I didn't want a good thing to end.
I just started reading Pattern Recognition. I thought I might have an ebook of that, but I guess I'll just have to read the dead-tree version and get it back to my friend a little (a lot) later than I thought.
Then there's The Witching hour... I started that in June on the way to England. It was good company on the damned tour bus. I ought to finish it. Maybe that will be next.

Only to Read...
Obsidan Butterfly before I can finally crack my autographed copy of Cerulean Sins.
These books really appeal to my baser instincts.

Oh, Jesus Am I Horny!
It's a little depraved, but reading Laurell Hamilton and the way she mixes blood and violence and sex is super erotic.
Anyone for a little fight?
Try to pin me down?
'Cause if I win...
The spoils will be mine.

Laurell Hamilton Books
Laurell Hamilton books are an excellent distraction. Excellent.
Violence.
Sex.
Magic.
In any combination or all together.
I'm reading Blue Moon.
Three more in the Anita Blake series.
Eagerly awaiting the next Merry Gentry novel.
I saw her at Uncle Hugo's. (You would have looked it up on Google anyway.)
She signed my Cerulean Sins:
"A little night reading"

For My Next Read
I'm going to get a book on cunnilungus.
But I think I need to establish a baseline to see if I improve after reading. And I think that the opinions of several people would give the results more authority.
I wonder if anyone could help me with that.
Cunnilingus is so cool!
